Inquiry Roundup – Food Science

Hello,
I was wondering if you could answer the following questions:

1) What are ALL of the unlearned (innate) factors that produce pleasure affects when a human eats food (i.e. the first bullet point on page 7 of 34 in this presentation that i found online **** ) –
the answer should therefore include the pleasure affects of oral sensations when eating food (hence the flavor of food i.e taste, smell and chemesthesis sensations e.g.- Sweet causes pleasure, bitter causes aversion etc) and all of the other hardwired pleasure affects of food on humans eg-unconscious hedonic responses that relay to the pleasure centres due to amino acids, fatty acids, maltodextrins, sugars, especially sucrose. We do not experience conscious sensations when these receptors are stimulated in the GI tract. E.g.- Both fats and proteins are broken into their constituent parts by digestion. There are receptors for those constituent parts (fatty acids from fats, the amino acid glutamate from proteins) in the digestive tract. Therefore the stomach can signal the brain that you have eaten a food containing fat or protein. Our brains make us like the sensations evoked by the foods that gave rise to the fatty acids and glutamate.
(Having done a bit of research online on this topic, it seems that the research of Dr Steven Witherly is very relevant to this question)
By “pleasure affects” i mean the hardwired factors that release pleasure chemicals when a human eats food…

My ***** is expanding into a different environment, being food production. We are in the early stages of this venture and we would just like to get an idea on the costs associated with producing a certain type of gum, containing ingredients used as stimulants. Thank you.
